Barack Obama on Gun Control

Gun sales are on the rise and last week’s election may have something to do with it.

Between Nov. 3 and Nov. 9, the Federal Bureau of Investigation received 374,000 requests for background checks on gun buyers – 49 per cent more than the same time last year, CNN reported.

Barack Obama on Gun Control

Q: Is the D.C. law prohibiting ownership of handguns consistent with an individual’s right to bear arms?

A: As a general principle, I believe that the Constitution confers an individual right to bear arms. But just because you have an individual right does not mean that the state or local government can’t constrain the exercise of that right, in the same way that we have a right to private property but local governments can establish zoning ordinances that determine how you can use it.

Q: But do you still favor the registration & licensing of guns?

A: I think we can provide common-sense approaches to the issue of illegal guns that are ending up on the streets. We can make sure that criminals don’t have guns in their hands. We can make certain that those who are mentally deranged are not getting a hold of handguns. We can trace guns that have been used in crimes to unscrupulous gun dealers that may be selling to straw purchasers and dumping them on the streets.

If I could tapdance like that I could be a star! He’s so good at going all around a question but never answering it, and he got elected because there are so many gullible people in this country. I’d be one of them if I didn’t know that taking away guns will be on his “to-do” list somewhere.

He fooled everyone that bought that line “common sense” approach to gun control. His voting record in the Illinois Senate and his time spent as a board member of the Joyce Foundation should have been clue enough to anyone who did a Google search on “gun control” and “Obama” .
