Raw Video: Blagojevich Kangaroo Court Impeachment Trial Opens
Gov. Rod Blagojevich declared his innocence Monday, calling the Illinois State Senate impeachment proceedings a “kangaroo court.”
Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich on Monday called the state Senate’s impeachment proceedings against him a “kangaroo court,” telling FOX News’ Geraldo Rivera that “What’s happening to me is unimaginable.”<1>
Blagojevich called on Illinois lawmakers to allow him to call witnesses to clear him of any wrongdoing.
In his first cable news interview since his arrest last November for allegedly trying to sell President Obama’s U.S. Senate seat to the highest bidder, Blagojevich hammered away at the process that could remove him from office.

“I’m here talking to Americans to let them know what’s happening in the land of Lincoln,” Blagojevich (D) told ABC’s Diane Sawyer on “Good Morning America.” “I’ve done nothing wrong.”<2>
“It’s a kangaroo court and they’ve decided, essentially, to do a hanging without even a fair trial,” Blagojevich said on NBC’s “Today Show.”
